My first degree is in Fine Art while my Masters degree encompassed new media and film. I have taught Fine Art, Photography and Video in colleges and universities since the early 1980's.

My present work centres on a hill in North Yorkshire, Roseberry Topping and adjacent, St Oswald's Well. a long disused Holy Well at the bottom of the hill.

The paintings, drawings and prints of Roseberry Topping act as a starting point to explore our history and place in the landscape. Time and space have long been a major concern of my work, the physical nature of the lines in the paintings denote pathways of past travelers and inhabitants from the Neolithic to Viking and Saxon references. The paintings are constructed with layers of  under-drawing which is washed, painted or eradicated, describing the notions of palimpsest, this erosion and change are embedded in the work, posing questions about our relationship to time, space and place.

The work featured on the web site are for sale.
